What is recorded here

In an inquisition of the 29th April in the 6th year of Queen Elizabeth (1564) the abbot of Cloontuskert (RO037-001001-) was seized of, amongst other possessions, the town (Vill) of Clontooskyrte containing eight cottages. Quoted by J. O'Donovan in 1837 (O'Flanagan 1931, vol. 1, 49). It was probably close to (RO037-001----), but it's exact location is not known. The monument record does not grant public access. Check the route and ask the landowner before entering private land.

The map shows the centre of the officially named townland area, not the monument. The government record does not identify the exact monument point.
