What is recorded here

Towards the bottom of a gentle SW-facing slope of a WNW-ESE ridge. Subcircular grass-covered area (dims 41m N-S; 34.5m E-W) defined by a flat-topped earthen bank (at W: Wth of base 4m; Wth of top 1.5m; int. H 0.45m; ext. H 1.1m) separated by a rounded fosse (at W: Wth of top 7.2m; Wth of base 3.4m; D 0.5m) from an outer flat-topped bank (at W: Wth of base 4.7m; Wth of top 1.5m; H 0.45m) that is only evident SW-N. The monument is overlain by a NNE-SSW drystone field wall and townland boundary with Leitrim townland towards its W edge, and the inner bank is reduced to a low scarp (H 0.1-0.25m) N-ENE and to a slighter bank (at ESE: Wth 5.7m; int. H 0.15m; ext. H 0.7m) ENE-SW. The fosse and outer bank can barely be traced ESE-SW, and there is no identifiable original entrance. Rath (RO035-018----) is c. 160m to the NNW and rath (RO035-021----) is c. 210m to the NE. See the attached aerial image taken from the SE. Compiled by: Michael Moore Date of upload: 24 August 2010
