What is recorded here

On a gentle N-facing slope. Circular grass-covered area (diam. 43m E-W; 42.6m N-S) defined by an earth and stone bank (Wth 4.4-6m; int. H 0.2-0.7m; ext. H 1.9-2.1m) separated by a rounded fosse (Wth of top 7-8.4m; Wth of base 1.5-3.8m; D 0.85-1.6m) from an outer bank (Wth 2.5-3.7m; H 0.2-0.45m), which is overgrown NW-E. There is an entrance through the inner (Wth 8m) and outer (Wth 7.6m) banks and a causeway (Wth 3m; H 0.25-0.4m) at NE. The inner bank has been quarried back (D 5m) WNW-NNW (max. ext. dims 60.2m E-W; 59m N-S). Rath (RO035-011----) is c. 100m to the SSE. See the attached aerial image taken from the NW.
