What is recorded here

Toomona House is marked on a map of 1777. This is a 5-bay, 2 storey house with a porch. It was built by O'Conor Roe, but the family appears to have died out with the death of Peter O'Conor in the 1830s. The house passed to the French family of Rocksavage, Co. Carlow, and later in the nineteenth century it was owned by the Lynham and Flanagan families. In the 20th century it was owned by Murphys from Holymount, Co. Mayo, and by Fallons from Carrowroe. It has been restored recently by its present owner, who found evidence that it may have had extensions on the ground floor to the N and W.
