What is recorded here

Marked as a small rectangular field with a house to the W on the 1837 ed. of the OS 6-inch map. It is located towards the bottom of a slight S-facing slope. Rectangular grass-covered platform (dims 30m N-S; 25m E-W) defined by an earthen bank at N (Wth 3.4m; int. H 0.7m; ext. H 0.5m) and E (Wth 4.6m; int. H 0.3m; ext. H 0.3m), a scarp (H 0.8m) at S, and a fosse at W (Wth of top 3m; Wth of base 1.5m; int. D 0.7m; ext D 0.2m) and N (Wth 2m; D 0.2m). There is an entrance (Wth 1m) at the W end of the S side, and the perimeter at E is overlain by a N-S field wall. Compiled by: Michael Moore Date of revised upload: 31 July 2015
