Marked on the 1837 ed. of the OS 6-inch map where it is described as Milltown House, and known locally as the site of a castle owned by the O'Conors. The house was built in the mid-18th Century by Thomas O'Conor, the great great grandfather of Roderic O'Conor (1860 - 1940), the artist. It is now a quarry. (Gormley 1989, 147)
