What is recorded here

This is an early ecclesiastical site where the abbot's death is recorded in 757 (Gwynn and Hadcock 1988, 383 ). It is situated on the crest of a low NW-SE drumlin ridge. The graveyard was destroyed in 1837 by the construction of a NW-SE roadway and no visible trace of it remains, but the base of a cross (RO027-034004-) is almost buried in the road bank on the N side. Compiled by: Michael Moore Date of upload: 24 August 2010

This remains an important historical record, but the official description says the monument is no longer visible or has been destroyed.

The monument record does not grant public access. Check the route and ask the landowner before entering private land.
