What is recorded here

Marked as a D-shaped area on the 1837 and 1927 eds of the OS 6-inch map, and situated at the S edge of a plateau. D-shaped grass-covered area (dims c. 50m N-S; c. 40m E-W) defined by a NW-SE road bank at S and a scrub-covered earthen bank (Wth 4.5m; int. H 0.7m; ext. H 1.1.3m) and flat-bottomed fosse (Wth of base 2.3m; D 0.7m) at W and in two curved sections of a bank (Wth 4-4.3m; int. H 0.8-1.1m; ext. H 1.1-1.6m) and outer fosse (Wth of top 5.5-6m; Wth of base 2.6-3m; S 0.5-0.8m) at E. There is no identifiable original entrance. Compiled by: Michael Moore Date of upload: 24 August 2010
