What is recorded here

Situated towards the W edge of Cloonshannagh bog, c. 20m SE of an element of the togher (RO024-024----), and c. 32m NE of platform (RO024-038----). This platform (Wth 3.85m; T 0.52m) was exposed in the drain face, 0.06m below the field surface. It was orientated E-W and was composed of poorly preserved longitudinally laid roundwood and brushwood underlain by very few transverse brushwood elements. No clear structure was apparent as the elements were laid in widely dispersed clusters. The roundwood and the brushwood ranged from 0.12 to 0.16m and from 0.02 to 0.05m in diameter, respectively. The underlying peat was composed of well humified Sphagnum-rich peat with frequent Eriophorum inclusions. Compiled by: Ros O Maoldúin/Michael Moore Date of upload: 15th April, 2011
