What is recorded here

First identified by Steve Davis from LiDAR images (Pers. Com. 2015), it is located in pasture at the crest of a N-facing slope. This is a rectangular area (dims 32m E-W; 28m N-S) with rounded corners in meadow grass defined by two earthen banks and two fosses at E, S and W that morph into two scarps separated by a berm around on the N side (max. ext. dim. 56m N-S). An original entrance is not identified. The outer bank and fosse are largely absent on the W side, and the outer fosse at E is slightly truncated by a N-S field bank. At the S side a slight earthen bank (Wth 7m; int. H 0.5m; ext. H 0.25m) is separated by a fosse (Wth of top 4.6m; ext. D 0.2m) from an outer bank (Wth 5.35m; ext. H 0.2m) and a second outer fosse (Wth of top 4.75m; ext. D 0.1m), but at the N side the scarp (Wth 4m; H 0.75m) defining the platform is separated by a berm (Wth 3.4m) from an outer scarp (Wth 3.5m; H 0.75m).
