What is recorded here

A house and two mills at Grange are shown on an estate maps of the earl of Mountrath estate in NLI dated 1730 (n. 3947, p 3618 (3)) and 1770 (ms. 2793 No. 17). One mill survives as a rectangular two storey structure (ext. dims 8m NE-SW; 5m NW-SE) with doorways at the W end of the NW wall (Wth 1m; H 1.8m) and in the NE gable (Wth 1m; H 2m). The mill stands on the NE side of a mill-race (L c. 200m) which is filled in, apart from a section (L c. 70m) where it connects with the Grange River upstream from the mill while the river runs past the NE gable of the mill. The mill-race is visible as a depression (Wth of base 3m; D 2.3m at SW; D 0.4m at NE). Compiled by: Michael Moore Date of upload: 24 August 2010
