What is recorded here

Located at the W side of a slight N-S rise on the S-facing slope of Rathcroghan. It was first identified by G. Dempsey from Air Corps aerial photographs (date c. 1955) as two parallel and closely spaced earthen banks. The banks (Wth c. 2-3m; max. H c. 0.3m) are located c. 3-4m apart and survive in interrupted sections (max . L c. 115m) with the S end curving to the W as do the Mucklaghs (RO021-042015-; RO021-042016-) c. 500-700m to the SSW. The E bank is more prominent and has a distinct gap at one point, but the small scale of these features suggests that they are part of a roadway. The roadway is unconnected with the road (RO021-042014-), the N end of which is c. 250m to the W of the S end of this feature.
