On the N-facing slope of Rathcroghan ridge, and part of the unified field system at Rathcroghan. A roadway (RO022-056034-) (Wth c. 5-10m) defined by earth and stone banks runs W from Flanagan's Fort ring-barrow (RO022-056038-) (L c. 850m), and overlies the two outer enclosing banks of Rathscreg barrow (RO02256035-). Archaeological testing (02E0026) c. 150-200m W of its visible W end failed to produce any evidence of its continuation in that direction (Read 2004j). Towards its W end it is crossed by a N-S road (RO022-056033-) extending N (L c. 100m), which has a branch road (Wth 5-6m; L c. 100m) defined by earthen banks running E c. 100m N of the junction. The N-S road may have continued further N, to the E of Courtmoyle rath (RO022-056028-), and also further S. Large rectangular fields (dims c. 300m x c. 150m) are attached to these roads covering an area of c. 50 ha, and pits (RO022-056047-) (dims c. 3-10m x c. 2m; D 0.5m), frequently aligned with the roads, abound in the area. The fields (RO022-056031-) are to the E of a NW-SE public road, and the fields (RO022-057003-) are SW of the NW-SE Tulsk to Ballaghaderreen road (N5).
