What is recorded here

On a gentle SW-facing slope of the Rathcroghan plateau. Oriented NE-SW (L c. 700m), its NE end is aligned tangentially on the SE edge of Rathandarve (RO022-057004-) although stopping c. 200m short of it. At the NE end it is visible as a grass-covered carriageway (Wth 5m) bordered by an earthen bank (Wth 2m; int. H 0.2m; ext. H 0.4-0.6m) and outer drain (Wth of base 2m; D 0.2m) at NW and an earthen bank (Wth 4m; int. H 0.2m; ext. H 0.7m) and drain (Wth of base 2m; D 0.5m) at SE. At the SW end it is visible as a raised grass-covered strip (Wth 8m) with traces of outer drains (Wth 3-4m; D 0.1m) at either side. A fragment of the road can be seen near ring-barrow (RO021-042020-) c. 800m to the SW. (Waddell 1983, 28) Compiled by: Michael Moore Date of upload: 24 August 2010
