What is recorded here

First identified in an unpublished archaeological LiDAR report (Davis, 2015) commissioned by Roscommon County Council as part of the Environmental Impact Assessment for the N5 Ballaghaderreen - Scramoge road development. It is located in meadow grass towards the bottom of a slight SW-facing slope. This is a low kidney-shaped mound (dims 9.5m N-S; 4.75m E-W; H 0.2m) curving around SSE-W-N a slight depression (dims 3.75m E-W; 2m N-S) at NE. It is on the S side of an E-W land drain, which cuts it slightly revealing a charcoal and burnt stone matrix. Compiled by: Michael Moore Date of revised upload: 5 August, 2016
