What is recorded here

First identified in an unpublished archaeological LiDAR report (Davis, 2015) commissioned by Roscommon County Council as part of the Environmental Impact Assessment for the N5 Ballaghaderreen - Scramoge road development. It is located on a gentle NW-facing slope. A rectangular grass-covered area (dims c. 70m ENE-WSW; c. 60m NNW-SSE) is defined by an earth and stone bank at S (L 65m; Wth 2m; H 0.25-0.3m), a fragment of a levelled bank (L 39m; Wth 4.8m; H 0.2-0.45m) at W and traces of a bank at the S end of the E side. There is no evidence of a field bank at N. The field banks are mis-aligned with the present field banks, which they pre-date, but it is probably post-medieval in date.
