What is recorded here

Marked only on the 1914 ed. of the OS 6-inch map, and situated on a N-facing slope of a low spur or ridge. Circular grass-covered area (diam. 47m NNW-SSE) defined by an overgrown earthen bank (at SSE: Wth 3.7m; int. H 0.1m; ext. H 0.6m) separated by a fosse (at SSE: Wth of top 6.8m; Wth of base 4.3m; ext. D 1.5m) from an overgrown outer bank (at SSE: Wth of base 6.9m; Wth of top 4.1m; ext. H 1.4m) which is incorporated into a field bank, and an outer fosse (Wth of top 6.2m Wth of base 3m; D 0.2m). All features survive SE-SW, and the inner bank is continued by a low scarp (H 1.1m at NNW) SW-NNE. There is no visible entrance, but there are swallow holes on the perimeter at N and E. Rath (RO014-013----) is c. 350m to the ESE along the same spur. Compiled by: Michael Moore Date of upload: 24 August 2010
