What is recorded here

Located in a level area of rough pasture within the meandering loop of a SW-NE stream which is now by-passed by a WSW-ENE channel just SE of the monument. It was first identified by Susan Curran as part of an M.A. thesis with University College Dublin using a LiDAR survey dataset commissioned by Leitrim County Council and the National Roads Authority. This is a subcircular grass-covered area (dims 30m E-W; 26m N-S) defined by a low earthen bank (at WSW: Wth of base 7m; Wth of top 3m; int. H 0.2m; ext. H 0.15m) SE-S-WNW and by scarp (at E: Wth 0.8m; H 0.2m) NE-SE. The perimeter peters out WNW-N-NE and there is no visible fosse or entrance. Rock outcrop is close to the surface in places.
