In 1330 Turlough O Conor attacked the camp of Walter MacWilliam Burke at Leaghmhagh in Moylurg and forced him to retreat to Cairthe Lia Fada, a standing stone now known as Cloghcrom (RO010-049----). Having received reinforcements from Gilbert Costello, Lord of Slieve Lugha, and Tomultach, son of Donagh (O'Conor?) they attacked O'Conor at The Ford of Disert Nuadhain where Donagh, the son of Donnell Mac Mahaon, MacGillalcondan and others of O'Conor's people were killed. The ford was not encountered, but it was probably in the parish of Esternow.
