Situated in a hollow at the bottom of the NW-facing slope of an ENE-WSW drumlin ridge. Marked on the 1837 and 1914 editions of the OS 6-inch map and described in gothic lettering on both as Cloghcrom - the crooked or leaning stone - and it was recorded thus by John O'Donovan in 1837 (O'Flanagan 1931, vol. 1, 120). It is a limestone slab (dims 0.7m x 0.45m; H 3m) oriented NE-SW and leaning to the NW, Rath (RO010-050----) is c. 100m to the SW.
During a battle which was fought in 1330 between Turlough O'Conor and Water Mac William Burke the latter was forced to retreat to Cairthe Liaghfada (ALC vol. 1, 613), which is identified as this stone (Connellan 1963), and it is known locally as An Lia Fada (Keenehan 2006 a). (Siggins 1986a)
