What is recorded here

Located on a flat, low-lying landscape. Archaeological testing (09E0476) during 2009 on the route of the N5 Ballaghadereen bypass identified a deposit of burnt mound material (dims 5.9m x 3.8m; T 0.1m) that was set aside for resolution as Keelbanada 1 (Doyle 2010a, 11; 2012b). Subsequently, it was completely excavated (10E0303) when it proved to be a horseshoe-shaped spread of burnt stone (dims 6.25m x 4.5m; max. T 0.08m), but charcoal from it produced a C14 date of 2018-1774 cal. BC. (Bayley and Delaney 2011a; Bayley 2013a) Compiled by: Michael Moore. Date of upload: 10 February, 2012
