What is recorded here

Situated on top of a low hillock in undulating countryside. Embedded in the bank of a field boundary hedgerow. A large roughly square-shaped red sandstone boulder (H 1.1m x Wth 1.2m) with two deep depressions (diam. 0.35m x D 0.25m; diam. 0.45m ; D 0.25m) on the surface between which there is a third shallow depression (diam. 0.2m; D 0.05m). The latter depression may be the result of water erosion, while the two deep depressions have been formed as the result of the grinding process. Compiled by: Caimin O'Brien. Date of upload: 23 May 2011
