What is recorded here

Situated on E facing slope of natural rise in undualting countryside. Circular area (diam. 30m) enclosed by poorly preserved bank reduced to a scarp in places with no evidence of a fosse or entrance feature. Interior follows natural slope of rise of ground, located beside Fortwilliam House would suggest that is was used as a possible landscape feature. Possible ringfort that was reused as a tree-ring. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Offaly' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1997).
