What is recorded here

Situated on the NW facing slope of rising ground in upland area in undulating countryside. The site was bulldozed in the 1970's and described by Wheeler (ASI file 1974) as a D-shaped (42m diam) enclosure enclosed by an earth and stone bank with a lot of loose stone on top of the bank with no evidence of an outer fosse. The ringfort appears to have been built into the NW face of the hill. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Offaly' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1997). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research. Date of upload: 23 May 2011
