A large block of sandstone traditionally believed to have been brought from the summit of Beagh Mountain by St Molua. It apparently once stood near St Molua's Well (OF039-055002-) (Feehan 1979, 140). No visible remains at ground level.
No surface remains of any standing stone or any large boulder in the field near the holy well (OF039-055002-) that is described by Feehan as 'Near it [holy well] stood a large block of sandstone believed to have been brought by Saint Molua from the top of Beagh mountain' (Feehan 1979, 140).
The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Offaly' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1997). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research.
