Situated on top of high ground overlooking low-lying flat land to the S. Large circular area (diam 40m N-S) enclosed by an earth and stone bank (Wth 2-4m; int. H 0.8m; ext. H 3.5m); wide flat bottomed fosse (Wth 2m; ext. D 1.7m) with slight evidence of an outer bank visible at N only. Well preserved causewayed entrance (Wth 2.7m) at E. Interior of ringfort is heavily overgrown making detailed examination impossible. There is evidence of stone revetment along the inner face of the inner bank most notable at the entrance. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Offaly' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1997).
