This is possibly the site of a medieval mill mentioned in the Down Survey. No surface remains visible of any mill of medieval date. The corn mill depicted on the OS 6-inch map dates from the 18th century. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Offaly' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1997).
