What is recorded here

The site (L 1.2m min.; Wth 2.35m; D 0.08m) has an apparent N-S orientation and consists of irregularly laid brushwood (diam. 0.012-0.051m) with occasional twigs. It also incorporates natural wood and roots. While the wood appears to be irregularly laid, the majority of elements are orientated approximately N-S with some pieces orientated NE-SW. Milling activity has damaged and dislodged most of the wood. Woodworking is evidenced by chisel and wedge points. The site is in poorly humified Sphagnum peat with occasional ericaceous remains and some Eriophorum. Compiled by: Irish Archaeological Wetland Unit (University College Dublin). Date of upload: 23 May 2011
