What is recorded here

Not depicted on the 1st or 2nd ed. OS 6-inch maps but marked on 1908 ed. as a circular hollow enclosed by a bank. New roadway has destroyed whatever potential monument that was located here. Indicated as a small hachured enclosure or possibly a quarry immediately S of the main Daingean-Edenderry road on the 1908 ed. of the OS 6-inch map. Not indicated on the first and second eds. of the OS 6-inch maps. No trace visible at ground level. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Offaly' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1997). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research. Date of upload/revision: 29 December 2011
