What is recorded here

Described by Crawford as 'the lower portion of a slab 1 ft. 6 in. by 1 ft. 6 in. incised with a two lined latin cross, surrounded by a single line ring below which the shaft begins, across the stone are traces of four lines of lettering' (Crawford 1916, 166; JAPMDI vol. ix, 105). Not visible at ground level. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Offaly' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1997). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research. Date of upload: 23 May 2011
