A radially split plank (Wth 0.12m; D 0.08m) near the bottom of the drain face. A single piece of brushwood lies in a displaced position on the field surface above and may be related to this site. The timber lies in well-humified Sphagnum peat. It has been dendrochronologically dated to AD 587±9 or later (Q9284). This dates compares directly with that from SMR OF015-247----, located 26.9m to the NW, which incorporates radially split oak timbers. It is highly possible that these sites are related. SMR OF015-249---- is located 2.2m SE of this site at a higher level in the drain face. Recorded by the Irish Archaeological Wetland Unit (University College, Dublin) in 1996. The evidence is not sufficient to warrant its acceptance as the remains of an archaeological monument.
