Road — class 3 togher in Ballydaly

The site (Wth 3.75m; D 0.5m) is orientated NE-SW in opposing drain faces and consists of a discontinuous band of brushwood and roundwoods. Two individual structures are possibly suggested as the site consists of two discrete clusters of wood, c. 0.7m apart, located at slightly different levels in the drain face. The wood at the S end of the band is slightly higher incorporating roundwoods and brushwood, up to three pieces deep. At the NW end, only brushwood is apparent and the components are up to four pieces deep. The wood is deposited irregularly and in both clusters, a small number of pieces sit upright at angles of c. 45°. One metal-cut worked end is recorded. Wood species identified include alder, willow, ash and Pomoideae. Both clusters are located within the same peat stratum of moderately humified Sphagnum peat. The site or sites may be related to one of a number of sites identified in the adjacent drain to the SW which includes SMR OF015-166---- and SMR OF015-167----.
