No surface remains of a Holy Tree described in 1934-5 by T. D. Kendrick as 'Nothing was found in the trenches cut in the flat river-meadow east of a line between the Holy Tree and the knoll and nothing on the western side of the drive' (Kendrick 1939, 2).
The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Offaly' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1997). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research.
