Castle built c. 1550 and occupied by the Leicester family (R. Loeber pers. comms.). Remains now consist of low banks and shallow fosses with no masonry showing. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Offaly' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1997).
