What is recorded here

Situated on top of an E-W ridge in undulating countryside. Natural ridge which has been quarried on its N side with no evidence of any archaeological features visible. Probably destroyed after 1840 as it was marked on the 1840 edition of the OS 6-inch map and not on the later editions. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Offaly' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1997). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research. Date of upload: 23 May 2011
