What is recorded here

Situated on top of a natural rise in undulating countryside. Circular area (diam 20m) enclosed by an earth and stone bank (Wth 3m; int. H 0.5m; ext. H 1.75m) with entrance gap (Wth 3m) at W. The amount of stone in the bank gives the site a cashel like appearance. Natural bedrock protrudes from surface of interior. No evidence of an external fosse. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Offaly' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1997). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research. Date of upload: 23 May 2011
