Not visible at ground level. Potential monument identified by T. McDonald as part of an archaeological survey of the Clonmacnoise region in 1987 (McDonald 1987, 24).
Trial-trenching was carried out on 21 August 2007 by Anne Carey under licence No. 07E0839 at the site of a proposed single-house development. Four trial-trenches were excavated on the site and the testing did not result in the discovery of heretofore unknown or unrecorded archaeological material or artefacts (Bennett 2010, 399).
The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Offaly' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1997). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research.
