This memorial slab, which was formerly in the church (OF004-013----), is dated 1617. It is carved with the effigy of Capt Wakley with his lance, sword and shield (JRSAI 1865 332-3). The inscription on this memorial reads 'HERE LIETH THE BODY OF MAUD HANCOCK, DAUGHTER TO WILLIAM OF DUBLIN ALDERMAN, WHO DECEASED THIS LIFE THE 3RD OF MAY 1617. HIR DEER AND WELLBELOVED HUSBAND THOMAS WACKLEY OF BALLIBURLY ESQUIRE SUN TO JON WAKELY OF THE NOVAN ESQ CAPTAIN OF A 100 HORSE AND 100 FOOT IN THE BEGINNING OF QUEEN ELIZABETH'S REIGNE OF FAMOUS MEMORY COVERNID THEM TO THE ADVANSMENT OF HIR HIGHNESS SERVICE, CAUSED THIS MONUMENT TO BE MADE IN MEMORY OF HIR, HIMSELF AND CATREN CUSACK ALIAS HANDCOCK SISTER TO THE AFORSAID MAUD' (Hickey 1974, 5). This is now in the National Museum of Ireland together with a graveslab (OF004-013004-) and an armorial plaque (OF004-013005-) from this site.
