Located on a low-lying plateau. It is depicted as a subtriangular embanked enclosure on the 1834 edition of the OS 6-inch map where it is described in gothic lettering as a ‘fort’, and it is depicted as an oval hachured feature on the 1907 edition. It was recorded in the 1967 as an oval, slightly domed (H 0.8m) grass-covered area (dims c. 49.5m NNW-SSE; 34.3m E-W; ) defined by a scarp (at W: Wth 2m; H 0.7m) and traces of an eroded fosse W-N-E (at E: Wth of top 9m; int. D 0.8m; ext. D 0.1m). The interior and the perimeter at S were disturbed by ancient quarrying. There was no identifiable original entrance. It had been eroded away by 1984
