The graveslab (Wth 0.93m; L 1.93m) of John Daniell with a crest and the date 1681 is in the parish church of Magheross (MO031-035001-) just E of the graveslab of John Carver, the first Master of the Free School, dated 1711. The inscription on the Daniell slab is illegible now but it was recorded by Shirley (1879, 363) as: HERE LYETH THE BODY / OF JOHN DANIELL ESQV. / OF DALESBERY IN CHES / HIRE IN THE KINGDOME / OF ENGLAND WHO / DESEASED JVNE THE / SIXTH IN THE YEAR / ONE THOVSAND SIX / HVNDRED EIGHTY AND / ONE AGED 97 YEARS.
