What is recorded here

Located on the tip of a NW-SE spur. This is a circular overgrown area (diam. 33m NE-SW; 30m NW-SE) defined by an overgrown earthen bank W-NW (Wth 7m; int. H 1m; ext. H 1.6m) and a complete outer fosse (at NW: Wth of top 8.4m; ext. D 1.2m), but the bank is reduced to an external scarp (at SE: Wth 6m; H 1.9m) over most of the perimeter. The entrance (Wth 4.3m) and causeway (Wth of top 3.5m; H 0.4m) are at E. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Monaghan' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1986). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research. Date of revision: 6 December 2017
