Located at the highest point of and towards the W end of an E-W drumlin ridge. This ringfort is depicted on McCrea’s map of County Monaghan (1793). It was described in 1967 as a circular grass and rush-covered area (diam. 27.6m N-S) that slopes down slightly (H 1.2m) to the S. It was defined by an earthen bank (Wth 4.4-7.2m; int. H 0.3m at S to 1.2m at N; ext. H 2m at N and S) which was incorporated into a N-S field bank SW-WNW, and an outer fosse (at N: Wth of top 5m; ext. D 0.8m) NW-NE. The original entrance (Wth of base 2.6m) was at E. Spoil had been added to the outer face of the bank SSE-SW. The rath had been removed by 1995 (OSAP).
