What is recorded here

Located at the summit of, and at the centre of, a NNW-SSE drumlin ridge. There is a description in the folk record of the destruction of a fort at Drumgoose c. 1900 (IFC (942) 218: https://www.duchas.ie/en/cbes ). A circular embanked enclosure (ext. diam. c. 60m) is depicted on the 1834 edition of the OS 6-inch map, and a chord of a field bank (L c. 45m NW-SE) is represented on the 1907 edition, which is still visible on the aerial images (OSI, Bing, Google). The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Monaghan' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1986).
