What is recorded here

Situated on top of a hill. This is a circular grass-covered area (diam. 37.6m E-W; 34.5m N-S) with rock outcrop defined by an earth and stone bank (at SW: Wth of base 2.9m; Wth of top 1.3m; int. H 1.1m; ext. H 1m) with an external stone facing. There is no visible fosse, and the only entrance in 1967 was a modern one (Wth 0.5m) at E, but vehicle entrances had been added at NE and W by 1995 (OSAP). The perimeter is truncated slightly by a NE-SW field bank at NW. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Monaghan' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1986). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research. Compiled by: Michael Moore Date of revision: 27 February 2018
