What is recorded here

Situated on top of a drumlin. This is an overgrown circular area (diam. 39m NW-SE; 36m NE-SW) defined by an earthen bank separated by a fosse from an outer overgrown earthen bank. The entrance through the inner bank (Wth of base 1.8m) and a causeway (Wth of top 3.1m; H 1.3m) are at ESE but the entrance in the outer bank is closed. There is a large modern T-shaped depression in the N interior of the rath. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Monaghan' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1986). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research. Revised by: Michael Moore Date of revision: 9 May 2018
