What is recorded here

Located on top of a drumlin. This is a subcircular grass-covered area (dims 54m E-W; 47.5m N-S) defined by a grass-covered earthen bank largely reduced to an external scarp (at SE: H 1.5m) and an outer fosse, outside of which is a field bank which might incorporate an outer bank of the rath NW-NE (at NE: Wth of base 5.5m; int. H 0.9m; ext. H 0.35m). The entrance through the inner (Wth of base 2m) bank and a causeway (Wth of top 5.5m; int. H 0.9m; H 0.5m) are at ESE. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Monaghan' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1986). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research. Revised by: Michael Moore Date of revision: 9 May 2018
