What is recorded here

Situated on a local summit in an undulating landscape. This is an oval grass-covered area (dims 44m NW-SE; 35m NE-SW) defined by a slight earthen bank WNW-NE that is largely reduced to a scarp (at SW: H 1.8m) and hedge, with evidence of external facing stones all around, and slight traces of a fosse E-SE. The original entrance is not identified. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Monaghan' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1986). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research. Revised by: Michael Moore Date of revision: 22 June 2018
