Located at the tip of a short S-N spur with a central ridge. It is represented as a large embanked oval enclosure on the 1834 edition of the OS 6-inch map where it is described in gothic lettering as ‘Caldragh fort’. This is a large oval, grass-covered area (dims 96m NNE-SSW; 69.5m ENE-WS) defined by a field bank (Wth c. 2m; H c. 1m) SE-SSW and a scarp (at WNW: Wth 1.7m; H 2m) and hedge elsewhere, with an external fosse or drain (at WNW: Wth of base 2.5m; ext. D 0.3m) NW-N-SE. There is an entrance (Wth of base 1.8m) at SE. Although the name ‘Caldragh’ suggests a burial ground there is no evidence of one.
