What is recorded here

Situated on a hilltop. This is a circular or sub-triangular grass-covered area (dims 73.2m E-W; 71.8m N-S) defined by an earthen bank (at ESE: Wth 2m; int. H 0.2m; ext. H 1.8m) and hedge incorporated into a field bank with an outer stone facing E-SW and WNW-NW, and a scarp (at NE: Wth 0.9m; H 1.35m) and hedge elsewhere. There are traces of a fosse or drain visible WNNW-N-ENE, and entrance gaps at E, SE and S. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Monaghan' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1986). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research. Compiled by: Michael Moore Date of revision: 22 February 2018
