What is recorded here

Situated towards the bottom of a W-facing slope. This is the remains of a back-to-back dual court-tomb, orientated approximately NE-SW, which is incorporated in a field bank. A single court stone and an entry jamb of the NE tomb survive. The gallery (L 5.5m; Wth 1.6m), narrowing towards the rear, is divided into two chambers by two jamb -stones. Two jamb-stones, a single side-stone, and the adjoining shared back stone are all that survive of the SW gallery. There are indeterminate remains of a cairn (diam. 8m). (de Valera 1960, 123) The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Monaghan' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1986). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research. Date of upload: 17 July 2007
